Home and family alerts

Set up earthquake alerts for home and family

A good alert routine makes the important notifications easier to understand. Start with one place, one rule, and a clear plan for what you will do when an alert arrives.

Choose the places that matter

Begin with home, then add the place where a family member, school, or workplace needs attention. Name each place clearly so an alert gives you context immediately. Keep the list short enough that every notification still means something.

Set a threshold you can act on

Magnitude alone does not tell you how an earthquake will feel at your place. Distance, depth, local geology, and the event revision all matter. Choose a minimum magnitude and radius that fit your routine, then adjust after you see the real feed.

Connect the rule to the saved place

In Earthquake Network - Panic, a saved place can be linked to an alert rule. This keeps the location, radius, and threshold together instead of leaving a global rule that is difficult to interpret later.

Check the notification path

An app alert is information, not an evacuation order.
Follow your local civil-protection authority and emergency services during a real emergency.

Use Guardian when one watched place is not enough

The free product includes one watched place. Guardian adds more saved places, longer-term Historical Explorer access, and Family Sharing. The current App Store catalog shows the plans and eligibility that apply to your Apple Account.

Practice the response

Decide who checks on whom, where everyone meets, and which official channel you follow. Read the in-app safety guide before an event so the alert can start a practiced routine instead of a search for basic instructions.
